While my mom was here, we ventured down to Sanibel Island. We had an AMAZING time! We went from Wednesday until Saturday, so it wasn't too busy. We actually were only going to stay 2 nights, but we were having so much fun, we stayed an extra night. We totally lucked out with the hotel. The initially didn't give us a 1st floor room, which I had requested. So, they upgraded us to a room with a kitchenette that had a gulf view because that was the only 1st floor room that was available. It was so nice! We kept the sliding glass door open to the patio whenever we were in the room so we could hear the waves. I could have just stayed there forever! This was our view out of the room:
The sunset through the sea oats our first night in Sanibel.
Hanging out on the beach. Isabel insisted on wearing my sarong. Whatever makes her happy, right?
Despite being a native Floridian, Isabel does not like having sand on her hands and feet. She kept trying to walk back to the room to wash herself off. The situation was solved though when I just put a bucket of water close by that she could use to rinse off.
Then she decided she needed to clean my feet.
It was a little too windy for our umbrella.....
That night we went out to dinner and had a seafood feast! No luck with getting Isabel to try any seafood though.
After dinner we headed to the beach to look for sea shells. Sanibel is known for their shells. We found a lot of pretty shells.
Isabel became quite the shell hunter. She is not picky....we now have a lot of plain, broken, white shells.
