Tigerlilly News: Summer Vacation, Part 2

After spending 2 days in Indiana, we headed over to Chicago to visit our dear friend Emily. We also had the pleasure of meeting her husband Steve. Chicago was so fun! We definitely want to go back. On Monday, the day we arrived, we went out to lunch with Emily and Steve. Then Emily, Jason, Isabel and I all went to the observation deck at the John Hancock Building. The views were amazing. Isabel seems to have no fear of heights. She was right up against the railing looking out over the city. The rest of the day we just relaxed at Emily and Steve's condo. Speaking of the condo, it also has amazing views. They are on the 27th floor and have huge windows. Did you know that the sun rises extremely early in Chicago?? On Tuesday morning Isabel woke up and was ready to go. Jason looked at his watch and it was 5:30am! It was so bright outside that it looked like we should be out at lunch. Isabel was not going back to sleep, so we were all up! Needless to say, she took her normal 10:00am nap at 8:30am. Fun times. After the newly scheduled nap we headed out for an adventure in Chicago. First we went to Navy Pier. Then we took a boat ride from the pier to the Shedd Aquarium. Isabel really enjoyed the boat ride. She especially liked watching the seagulls on the jetties and waving good bye to them. The aquarium was amazing and definitely puts our local aquarium to shame. We spent most of the day at the aquarium. Isabel seemed to really enjoy it. After the aquarium we headed back to Navy Pier and walked around for a little while. The lake was beautiful up close. We headed back to Emily and Steve's place and then got authentic Chicago pizza from Gino's. I have to say, we were slightly disappointed with the pizza. It wasn't as tasty as I expected. Oh well, it is still pizza and we are definitely fans of any pizza. On Wednesday Isabel slept until 7:00am (thank goodness!). We all went down to Millenium Park. The great part about staying with Steve and Emily is that they live in the heart of Chicago, so we could walk everywhere. Walking through the city and seeing all of the buildings was really nice. Once we got to the park we just walked around and enjoyed the views. They have this big jelly bean looking sculpture. It reflects the buildings and it really interesting to look at. Isabel liked walking under it and looking at the reflections. There was also an amphitheatre and gardens. It truly was a very pretty park and we would love to go back. After the park we had to leave. It was so great to see Emily and meet Steve. Hopefully we will go back soon!
